T20, ODI and Test set different reading conditions
| Format | Typical structure | What to verify | Common interruption issue |
|---|---|---|---|
| T20 | Short limited-overs match | Competition rules, innings limit and scheduled start | Reduced overs or a revised target |
| ODI | Longer limited-overs match | Overs, innings state and current playing conditions | Weather-adjusted target or abandonment |
| Test | Multi-day match | Scheduled days, innings state and result wording | Lost play, bad light, draw or reserve-day context |
Nine fields make a fixture record usable
Runs, wickets and participation need a named scope
Runs
A runs figure can refer to a match, innings, team, batter, partnership or over. The subject and period belong beside the number.
Wickets
The label may describe a bowler, innings or match. The rule must also explain how dismissals and incomplete play are treated.
Player participation
Squad selection is different from appearing in the final side. A record may need to show whether the player started, batted, bowled or entered play.
Rain, revised targets and abandonment alter the match state
The fixture title may stay unchanged while bad weather, reduced overs or a reserve day changes the playing conditions. A revised target belongs to the current limited-overs innings, not to the original schedule.
For a multi-day match, lost play can affect the available result paths without changing the teams or venue. Record the current status and the notice issued by the organiser.

Three checks prevent most identity errors
Wrong format
Applying limited-overs assumptions to Test wording changes the meaning.
Old status
A saved fixture can miss a revised start, reduced overs or abandonment notice.
Squad versus final side
A player named in a squad may not take part in the match.
